Pre-Purchase Research
Anyone owning a kamado style grill, or any other smoker will likely need a good pair of heat resistent gloves. Two things to look for in heat resistant gloves: Do they fit and are they heat resistant? There is quite a number of different products out there for heat resistant gloves as you can see below. So what separates the men from the boys? Hard to say really. I landed on these because they were a Lightning Deal on Amazon. Simple as that really.
Pros
- Heat Resistant
- I know that's what these are designed to do, but if they weren't that would be an epic fail. Believe it or not, some gloves that advertise to be heat resistant are not truly heat resistant. These work as intended.
- Grips on the gloves
- Seems silly, and I'll be curious to also see if this is going to be the downfall of these gloves, but there are "silicon" feeling strips on the gloves to help with grip. Should these strips peel off will it damage the product?
- Can use in the kitchen
- Hate the wife's kitchen gloves as my mitts don't fit into those things and I don't have true use of my fingers. These have double downed for me in the kitchen and I've found the wife using them as well......
- Sold as a Pair
- Yes, 2 gloves come in the package. And this is kind of big deal, as some only sell 1 glove.
- Washable
- These gloves are machine washable, so if you spill something on them and want to clean them up, you can throw them in the washer
- Super Thick
- Have a feeling these could also double as winter gloves if needed that's how thick these puppies are.
- Only list an XL for sale (as of December 2017)
- I have average sized hands, (wrist to end of middle finger is 10") and these are a little too big for me but they are still fully functional. Other options in size would be great. If you have small hands, these may be too big for you.
- Don't get them wet and then try to use them
- Kind of goes without saying, but like just about every other glove out there, don't get them wet and use them or you'll likely end up burned.
The Simdevanma Heat Resistant gloves are a win and if you can catch them on a Lighting Deal, I would highly recommend. The only downside to purchasing is that they only come in one size, but you know what, most kitchen oven mitts do as well. I would think that even if you have smaller hands, that these would work just fine for you. I would consider myself to have average sized hands and these are by no means too big for me. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase these gloves again.
